Newcastle Surf Report

Date: Sunday, 21st March, 2010 6.55am

Swell:0-1ft NE @ 6.0 seconds

Wind: NW @ 2kts

Tides:H12.48pm L6.50am

Comments:
Nice morning shame about the swell. Half foot with one foot sets. Some morning slackness evident. Tide still on the run out. Ships round to the north. Wind light and anywhere from the N to NW. The look on the face of all early starters ranges from “despair” to a smug “knew as much”. Mals and groms only.

Swell:1-3ft E @ 7.0 seconds

Wind: WNW @ 6kts

Tides:H11.21am L5.16pm

Comments:
If nothing else its consistent, a bit short on size but consistent. Most breaks are picking up 2 footers on the bigger ones with a select few waves magnets pulling in the odd bigger ones. Direction remains east. WNW wind so you wont see it much cleaner. Car parks are filling quickly

Newcastle Surf Report

Date: Wednesday, 17th March, 2010 6.46am

Swell:1-2ft E @ 7.0 seconds

Wind: WNW @ 4kts

Tides:H10.08am L4.13pm

Comments:
With the reduction in size most breaks are just rolling through on the outside banks. Direction still straight from the east. 2ft on the sets about pulls it up as far as size goes. Offshore but surface lump still evident thanks to the onshores yesterday. Anything holding a wave is very popular, especially with what looks like people who like to share.

Newcastle Surf Report

Date: Tuesday, 9th March, 2010 6.25m

Swell:0-2ft NE @ 7seconds

Wind: NW @ 4kts

Tides:High 0415am Low 1122am

Comments:
Hope you all got a wave yesterday cause it’s looking a tad ordinary today. Abating swell and the early high tide both working against us. Another offshore start, which only adds to the “bugger” factor. Wave magnets are attracting the odd 2 footer, call it 1ft the rest..

Newcastle Surf Report

Date: Monday, 8th March, 2010 6.36m

Swell:2-3ft NE @ 8.5seconds

Wind: Nw @ 6kts

Tides:High 0400pm Low 1010am

Comments:
NE swell has continued to build overnight, select few breaks are seeing a good 3ft on the sets. Period is also up a second or even more and currently sitting just shy of 8.5 seconds. Current bank set-up is more aligned for swell from the south so some searching will be needed. Wind offshore, yes you read right, but still a lot of work to do.

Newcastle Surf Report

Date: Thursday, 4th March, 2010 6.46am

Swell:2-4ft ESE @ 7.5seconds

Wind: N @ 4kts

Tides:High 1201pm Low 0557am

Comments:
The onshores are good for one thing, they have arrested the abating trend in the swell. Mostly 2ft to 3ft with even the odd bigger one in the mix. Wind has finally backed off, out of the NNW earlier, N now and smokestacks are showing a NE’er on the way. Early low tide is a problem but we are not being blasted by 25kts easterlies..

Newcastle Surf Report

Date: Tuesday, 2nd March, 2010 7.20am

Swell:3-5ft S @ 8.5seconds

Wind: SE @ 18kts

Tides:High 0937am Low 0400pm

Comments:
Only confirming what you were expecting. Onshores still into things, if anything they have shifted further to the east so all local breaks are poo. Size and period up on yesterday arvo, 4ft to maybe 5ft on the sets and period around 8.5 seconds. Overcast but dry for now. I wouldn’t be wasting the fuel for it.

Swell:2-3ft S @ 8seconds

Wind: SSE @ 25kts

Tides:High 0937am Low 0400pm

Comments:
The change overnight has given us a kick in size but has also left us with a good dose of onshore blues. 2ft to 3ft on the sets and looks to be building. Period has also climbed back over 8 seconds. Wind out of the S to SSE with no change from 25kts. Protected corners only

No surprises up here today. Swell all but gone with only a couple of breaks dishing up 2ft bombs. Wind NW for now, ships round to the north and ship smoke NE. Starters, there is no shortage. Need some size under you.

Comments:
A punchy 2ft to maybe 3ft on the bigger ones. Swell direction ESE. Wind light NNW to N. Only a couple of breaks coming to the party and these are well populated. Tide still on the run out, its only a 0.6m low, but things are looking in need of water.
